My GOODNESS! When you said you were a fan, I didn't expect you'd be so much of a fan that you'd buy that dreaded Sharkticon!
Woo! Do I spy TAKARA ONSLAUGHT with TFA Swindle? Sweet, I wish we'd get BlastOff in one of the lines, I miss the snob.
I love the Sharkticons! Floro Dery's designs rule.
It would be cool to have a Blast Off that is deluxe or so size. Maybe I should put the Michael Bay Movie Brawl in there and start an Axiom Nexus style Combaticons crossover.
That is an amazing collction, I've just recently stated collecting again after the 2007 movie, needless to say my collection is nowhere near that big.
In the fourth pic on the right, my sister would love that Hot Rod/Rodimus/Hot Rodimus(what is the current official name?) collecton.
Flippin heck! Where do you go to draw these days? That's a lot of sheer plastic joy right there.
Oh god imagine knocking one over...mine topple when someone walks across the room and once one is down they all go down. Argh!

Hi Derrick, What's the fourth non-transforming Bulkhead?
I don't think I intentionally set out to color code my Transformers, I just group the same characters together, and it sort of happens on it's own. I guess I thought everybody's collections looked like that!
I too would love to see Animated Sharkticons and Battle Beasts... Too many characters, not enough episodes!
That little Bulkhead is from a TFA board game set. The game also comes with PVC figures of Bumblebee, Optimus and Prowl. The box for the game is pretty cool too, it's made to look like Optimus Prime's cab.
I think the color groupings happen when you put groups of the same bot together, ala Hot Rod, or you group them by faction and then well, it's all about personal choice, and color sorting seems to be a priority.
As for Sharkticons on TFA that would be awesome, Battle Beasts even better, even if they are just snuck in as a sorry stuffed animal.
I'd really like to see some headmasters in TFA, Powermasters, Breast Force, you know the things everyone wants, right? :)
Again, I can't wait to see what you guys have cooked up for season 3. The TFCC magazine pic has got me quite interested.

hey derrick, i noticed a particular figure in your hot rod/rodimus collection i can't seem to place... he's between classics rodimus and g1 hot rod, below g1 rodimus prime and above the hot rod w/ matrix pvc figure. is it even a hot rod figure(all the others seem to be)?

Hi, Derrick! Recently, designs were leaked for both of Brawn's modes and Red Alert's alt mode. Are these official, and could you tell me if their roles might end up being edited like poor Beachcomber?
And, if Hot Shot is in the show, I ask - No, DEMAND you work in at least one reference to JaAm. Even a simple "WhY mY ShOuLdErS hUrT?" or humble "mY LiFe iS PaIn."

It's the Batmobile from Batman Beyond. Gosh I miss the show. I noticed in the show that the batmobile can drive on the road and hover , not fly,like Prowl's jet boosters. So with a little modifying the look,repainting him totally GenOne unlike his Universe paintjob, a sword or two, a wrist gun, and Neil Ross, then Animated could have an awesome looking Springer.
Wow, you're the biggest Galvatron fan I've ever seen.
Brawl and Blackout work really well as replacememts for the Combaticons you're missing.
Adding Movie Swindle is optional.

Well, if you poke around, I'm sure you'd find some people would want to see characters that would be fairly unexpected to others. I personally think it'd be both awesome and incredibly funny to see an Elite Guard Huffer.

Did you work in Legion of Superheroes? I know your style is very strong and I can't help but this of a helmet-less TFA Megatron when I look at that Brainiac 1.0 design.
Are those MyClone Galvatron, Magnus and Wreck Garr? Didn't know they were so small.

Yeah, I think that's right. The Choro-Q Rodimus Prime is the one that King Henrik is talking about.
It would be tough to do a Triple Changer Autobot. The process of adding the third mode might drive the Autobot mad, as it did with Blitzwing.
At this point, Brawn and Red Alert are still both in. Hot Shot's part was already written before we had read any of the JaAm comics, so unfortunately, his shoulders will be fine.
We probably wouldn't do a Batman Beyond style hovercraft. I wouldn't mind doing a Seaspray type hovercraft though!
We've talked about lots of different characters at one point or another. Tankor and G1 Scourge have come up, but so far we haven't found the right opportunity to use them.
I don't think Huffer would be Elite Guard, but the Guard might hire him to come in and fix their sinks.
I worked on Legion and Teen Titans before Transformers.
Those are Myclones in there. I have been looking around my office for Arcee and Rodimus Prime. I have them packed away some where and I would really like to add them to the shelf.

I'm not so sure about your comments on autobot triple changers. I could see springer keeping it together sheer force of will and a slow decent into madness being possibly a little too dark.
However from the angle if there was a unreliable triple changer autobot and Optimus has to deal with the idea of locking up one of his own it could be interesting from a character perspective. Similar in tone to Ratchet's flashback in season one.
But hell, it'll be several seasons before you would have the ability to consider that.

Bummer, No Elite Guard Huffer. Oh well, it would give him more to whine about if he was stuck doing manual labor. I imagine Crankcase would be in a similar position with the Decepticons.
Though, is the little PVC Cyclonus the "Armada" or is the full-sized Cyclonus the "Armada", because I see the Sweeps near Scourge.

I just wanted to ask you: what's the team's stance on the Car Robots/Robots in Disguise series of Transformers? Just that looking at what we've seen of Animated so far, as well as across your awesome desk display there, RiD seems to be the only incarnation of Transformers that hasn't got any significant representation as yet. Is it something you're conscious of, or something we might see in the future? I do hope so; RiD is a sentimental favourite of mine, and I'd kill to see an Animated Sky-Byte... :)
Anyway, keep up the good work, Derrick; I've been a fan of your stuff for years, from Foster's Home to Teen Titans, and I'm glad you seem to have a found a spiritual home with Transformers. And your collection rocks. :D

I think the little SCF PVC Cyclonus is just a tiny Cyclonus. When I get both the new Classics Cyclonuses, the Takara Henkei one will be Cyclonus, and the Hasbro one will be the Armada.
I know we have been very negligent towards Car Robots/RiD fans,and I apologize for that. If we are lucky enough to get a fourth season, I will really try to get some CR love in there.

We really wanted to get (insert random character here) into the show, but once again, we just ran out of time. There is always a chance that we could see (insert random character here) in the future, if the fandom so demands, and if Vangelus behaves himself.

Maybe it's because the people are so hungry for Animated (7 months of starving!) that they're shaking up your blog looking for something.
I would probably have to agree with the guy who said that the masses are hungry for more Animated(I imagine that Bob Forward and all them would have garnered the same attention if they all had blogs during Beast Wars). But don't worry, quite a few of us(myself included) are very interested in your incredible collection and various pieces artwork you post every now and then. It's just nice to get to talk to, in a sense, and get some feedback from someone involved with one of our favorite TV shows. The fact that you are a fellow 'former fan doesn't hurt either.

Yes, Arcee is awesome. Super show accurate (What else is new). I would say best Arcee toy ever, but I am a little biased... And OMG not a motorcycle!

Guys, please don't submit ideas like this. We are not legally allowed to use any fan character or story ideas, no matter how cool they may be. Every time someone submits an idea that they want to see in the show or as a toy, you are actually lessening the chance that we would be able to use that character. It's not that I don't like looking at fan drawings, I really do. But I have to be very careful not to use any part of what I've seen in what I'm doing.
I hope I'm not coming off like a jerk by saying this stuff, that's not my intention. It's just the reality and practicality of working in this business.
