    1. Coming to Canada. Sweet.
That it's on the other side of the country. Bleck.

I really wish we could get something going in western Canada that you could head to.

      Terrifying little chicken-arms!

    3. Darn it, wish I had enough money to go, it's only a 4 hour drive from Windsor. The face of the animated powered commander that you drew looks really nice!

    4. Poutine is not necessary for entry. However, it is Stanley Cup season so you may have to converse a little hockey. Not with me, but then I wonder sometimes if I am even welcome here.

And Powered Convoy is the bomb! Or as we call him here, Truth North Prime.

      ReplyDelete
    5. As much as everyone rightfully recommends the poutine, it's the street vendor hot dogs in downtown Toronto that must be tried when you are there. They are second to none.

    9. Nooooooooooooo.

I mean, it's great that you'll be there and all, but can't make it, and this is the one time you visit! It is almost depressing, really, so close!

    10. Why would Waspinator be at TFCon? I don't understand.

oops sorry i meant to post that on twitter I forgot. apparently waspinator isn't coming back in season 3 :( is this true ?

      Mr. Wyatt....

Waspinator's design is fantastic. Creepy and frightening. Reminds me of the velociraptors in Jurassic Park for some reason. What process did you go through and what was your inspiration in designing this new incarnation of Wasp?

What made you think of Waspinators mandibles to be like that. It looked as if he could bite chunks out of his enemies. Were you inspired by any movie, or maybe by nature?

Did you research on real life Wasps in making him? And what other Wasp abilities does he have?

Also, while watching the show I think I could hear clicks or something in the background. Did you guys plan that as well to make him even more creepy? :) How did you guys make those sounds.

      ReplyDelete
    13. Well, I do love Jurassic Park, but I don't think that consciously influenced Waspinator's design. I did look at a lot of real wasp photos, and nature shows, like "Life in the Undergrowth", as well as all kinds of movie monsters. The mandibles were just me trying to interpret his 3D Beast Wars design in 2D. I love his original design, I just wanted to make him more dangerous and monstrous and buggy.

Our sound FX studio, Audio Circus, did put a lot of insectoid clicks and other noises in for him. Just one reason you should turn up the volume when you watch the episodes! The sound is really great.

Well, I think it worked. You've made the most waspy Waspinator out there. :)

I really look forward to the next creature that you design especially for animated. :)

Are there any plans to introduce more technorganics? If you were asked to make another technorganic creature, what would it be?

      ReplyDelete
    15. Anonymous6:50 PM

Speaking of techno-organics, I can't wait! Sari is coming back Saturday!!! Not to mention Decepticon returning. When do we find out more about Sari's past, like how a protoform ended up in her dad's lab?

    16. PsiWraith@aol.com8:38 PM

Well, we know how it got there (It was obviously Transwarped in, as evidenced by the light-blue glow/flash...) we just don't know who sent it and for what purpose.

It's a pretty big coincidence that it should appear right next to Megatron's (at the time) offline head, however there was no one who knew Megatron survived (albeit in such a diminished capacity) much less where his "remains" were.

I actually wonder if Cyclonus is somehow involved. His bio says that he also "mysteriously appeared" from nowhere, and possibly has some kind of knowledge that others don't possess (Insisting that nothing matters because "the end is near."). Could he perhaps be referring to the "end" of the Decepticons once and for all? Could he, in fact, be a time-traveler who knew where Megatron's remains were because he was told by Megatron himself at a later date? Did he send the protoform to Past Megatron's location with the intention of it being a replacement body for his fallen leader? A failed attempt to alter the past by providing a method of reviving Megatron "early." (This would be similar to what G1 Megatron did with the Golden Disk in Beast Wars. In the event of defeat, leaving instructions to travel to a certain point in time and do a specific action.)

What's interesting is that so far, Megatron isn't aware of Sari's unique status or origin. Therefore, he may come up with that plan not knowing that it won't work. From his point of view, reviving a few years (Actually, how long before the Autobots awoke did Sari's pod appear? Was it said?) early would be a pretty big advantage in his eyes. After all, it was only because of Optimus's interference that his first attempt on the Allspark failed.

Cyclonus's nihilism could be a sad result of seeing that nothing he does seems to be altering the path that leads to the Decepticon's ultimate defeat.

Of course, I could be over thinking this and the answer could be as simple as "The Allspark did it."

Sweet! You guys worked the trike-jetpack into the series after all!

Also, mini-Soundwave and Sumdac are adorable!

      ReplyDelete
    18. No, Cyclonus isn't connected in any way to Sari's origins.

I enjoyed today's episode, but I knew in the back of my mind it was only a dream. Nice adition of giving Starscream's misciles the little shark faces like the toy has. Also Cybertron coming to earth nice G1 reference. I was really hoping it was not a dream becaues I'm afraid with the limited amount of episodes left there wont be much time to complete things. Im sure you all probably pulled it off though. I still hope Starscream gets his body back. Sorry to keep nagging about that subject. Great episode by the way! Look forward to next week.

    20. Mr.Watts what is Elita One's Alt Mode is before becoming Blackarachina?

      ReplyDelete
    21. Derrick, Quick Question, since you are "most awesome character designer", (i believe that is your title in the credits), do you get a heads up at all on which new toys are green-lighted before they are released? if so, any chance of an alt-mode Sari with that awesome jet pack, deluxe size, or whatever the next size down from deluxe is? Even just a rumor?

      ReplyDelete
    22. There is a lot of stuff with the toy line that changes right up until the last minute, so I'm not really up to date on what is happening. Best to ask Hasbro any toy questions you have in one of their Q & A sessions.

I can tell you from the animation side of things that Eric Siebenaler did a lot of the design work on the scooter/jet pack, and worked out the transformation for it.

Uh am I the only one who noticed Cancer, Hydra, and Marty Isenberg at the diner sitting together in today's episode? And if so, may I ask why Hydra is wearing those shades? Reminds a little bit of a certain someone from Gurren Lagann.

    24. So, Derrick... Hoiw old is Sari supposed to be? She acts like she's in her mid-teens, but she seems tall enough to be in her twenties.

      ReplyDelete
    25. Anonymous2:38 PM

Derrick, may we have a full size image of the ultimate alternate reality soundwave?

      ReplyDelete
    26. PsiWraith@aol.com7:35 PM

I second the Soundwave image request.

And speaking of Soundwave, what do you think about the idea of using two of the "little Soundwaves" as Rumble and Frenzy (one in the normal blue/gold and one red/black)?

      ReplyDelete
    27. Flashdisk12:25 AM

The episode "Human Error" is great. We finally get Sari back! :D At long last! :)

I really liked the scenes when the autobots were celebrating Christmas and the part where Sari recieves a jetpack from her dad. :)....

Any how. Great to see Soundwave and Sari kicking butt. Sari's growing maturity and her love for her family was brilliant. She really cares for her friends.

Nice to see the autobots acting heroic even though they thought they were in human bodies. They've grown so much from the space bridge repair crew. Its amazing how they've become such heroes.

      Nice jetpack by the way.

Mr. Wyatt, will Wreck Gar be in any remaining S3 episodes? 'Why I hate machines' is the best bet. Come on, you know you wanna tell. He is awesome. And he's not a new character. It wouldn't even be much of a spoiler :P

However, if you don't tell, I will respect your wishes. I will be a little bit arngy though. :P

      ReplyDelete
    30. Derrick Wyatt, do you commissions? If so how much would it cost?

      ReplyDelete
    31. Did you draw that Powered Commander on the side? You should make an animated design of that puppy for FanProjects!

      ReplyDelete
    32. Out of curiousity: it seems as though there are Decepticons who started out that way (a "race" as Lugnut and I believe Megatron have mentioned), and TFs who are Decepticons by allegiance, rather than origins. Is that accurate?

Also, I know you have a preference for the cartoons over the comics, but are there any Transformer comics storylines or characters you like which didn't appear in the cartoons (or were represented differently)?

Let us know how your journey into the strange land of Canada went Mr. Wyatt and perhaps show off some of your new toys you picked up.

Sound and Fury was brilliant. XD You'll have to give the compliments of the fandom to the sound effect guys for the Quickdraw McGraw noises with Optimus Prime bashing Soundwave with Laserbeak. And, if Optimus Prime used Ratbat, would we have gotten him playing the riff for "The Touch"?

      ReplyDelete
    34. Derrick J. Wyatt do you have any pictures from end game part 1 or 2 if not what would happen in the episode

      ReplyDelete
    35. Hope you had a good trip! I heard a lot of good things about the con.

Are some of the music cues also homages? I could swear the music from the sequence where Prowl is trying to escape Yoketron comes from Akira, and then there's that goofyass four note bit that pops up occassionally (along with the goofy little dance 'Bee does in 'Along Came a Spider') that is awfully reminiscent of a song from the Rankin/Bass Return of the King.

      ReplyDelete
    36. ...of course I meant aside from the ones that are obvious Transformer theme homages. ;)

      ReplyDelete

Connections between Sari and Omega Supreme....Hmm, that could be... interesting. I say the Allspark would be more likely to be connected to Sari, though.

The crowd on Cybertron - besides the ones listed on tfwiki (Autrooper, Tracks, Huffer, Cosmos, Red Alert, Hot Shot, Warpath, Mainframe, Beachcomber) it appears that there is also an tall orange guy (Wedge?), a yellow Cybertron Bumblebee redeco (Bumper?), a blue Cybertron Bumblebee redeco (Glyph?), and Brawn. Are these correct, and can you name any I missed? Thanks!

    41. Normally, I'd save the questions for a discussion panel, but I don't know if you're going to Botcon or not. So... Is battle mode Sari inspired by Masterforce at all? That's what it reminds me of. Unrelated note: Today's the 25th anniversary of the TF franchise. So happy 25th birthday to the Transformers!

    42. Anonymous9:08 AM

Mr Wyatt, could you tell us what Rattletrap's and Powerglide's alternate modes are?

      ReplyDelete
    43. You're probably too busy to answer any questions, but you're also the best one to ask this, so what the heck? ;) Was Shockwave's switch to purple for his primary color a choice for the show, or was it decided on just to coincide with the Target exclusive toy? Thanks! Hope we'll be getting more Animated in the future!
